How much does your board know about the senior executive team?
This is a post I made to a private group - to what extent is our board 'beholden' to the 'nice guy' syndrome?
The key findings from the annual survey of US publicly listed companies
Last week I worked with an Association having a ‘blue sky’ discussion on what the next three to five years might look like and how the board might address the opportunities available.
Coincidentally, the next day in my emails was this article by Bill Ryan, a research fellow at the Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations at Harvard University and director of the Nonprofit Governance Accountability Project. A further thought on team dynamics, this time from Solange Charas, President at Charas Consulting Inc.
From author, Associate Professor, Law, Governance & Ethics at York University, Richard Le Blanc, here are his views on the elements of team dynamics of a high quality board.
A few years back, I ran a seminar for Associations on performance reviews in which we covered the value or otherwise of using 360 reviews and the consequent feedback.
Have you tried using 360 reviews? Do you think a better review outcome resulted? As a board member, what tool(s) do you use to assess the GM's performance? Traditionally, performance reviews have been conducted annually - this article suggests that performance should be reviewed 'in flight'.
