What I liked in this article were these three questions:
· What did you read in my report that excited you about where we are as an organization? I’d like to hear what’s important to you.
· What did you read that caused anxiety or concern? We as a board should explore any concerns in detail.
· What did you read that left you with further questions? I’d like the opportunity to elaborate to ensure clarity
This week, in a meeting with a Chair and the CEO, the CEO asked this question: when my report (or any of my senior management’s reports) is (are) basically taken as read, what acknowledgement is there of the contribution I or my staff are making? It’s a good question so maybe the board can answer that question by adopting the three questions above.
